A very unusual Microscope in a fitted case, I think it is a travelling microscope but stand to be corrected by those who know, I have tried to photograph it in every configuration so you can see how it fits together. The base is a heavy shaped steel block which the brass mechanism is screwed to with four brass bolts, stamped on the polished surface is Elliott Bros London who were a well known and listed microscope and instrument maker, the adjustable brass mounts fit neatly into place to accept a drawtube which can be locked in place with the knurled threaded ring, the mount can rotate 360 degrees in the horizontal and vertical.The draw tube almost doubles in length when opened and the eyepiece also has some adjustment, stamped on the outer tube is C. Baker London and again on the body of the final lense with 2271 2 over 3 NA 025, Charles Baker was also a well known microscope/instrument maker from the same period if this is original to the rest of the instrument I do not know, this is how it came along with the other brass optical tube which has a cross hair in the final lens but does not seem to fit anywhere on the main structure.I have tried both draw tubes and the optics are very good the lenses are undamaged and very clear, the larger draw tube is 7 inches closed and 12 inches fully extended, the small brass one is 4 1/2 inches closed 5 1/2 inches extended, the wooden case is 9 3/4 inches x 8 1/2 inches x 6 inches tall, what this microscope was used for I have no idea, it is very precise in the way it travels and the measurement on the bed and the wheel, offered without reserve.If you require further photos or information just email me and do not forget to include your direct email address as photos cannot be sent using the ebay internal system.
