FAQs
- Q. Does the controller work with any corded track?
A. It will work with all the good quality roller or slider types of corded tracks. Roller/slider is the part where the curtain hook attaches and rolls or slides along the track as the curtains draw. Also, as supplied, the controller is not recommended for use with plastic ball/beaded cords....although the dedicated DIYer can dimple the drive pulley tyre for use with beaded cords.
- Q. What type of track is supplied?
A. A steel expandable track with nylon sliders suitable for straight windows only. This track is perfectly adequate for medium weight curtains.
- Q. Can the controller be mounted at either end of the track?
A. Yes...the cord can be arranged to draw from either end for centre draw curtains. Also the track can be arranged so that a once piece curtain can open (and close) from either end.
- Q. Will the controller operate in a bay window situation?
A. Only if you have a quality corded track with wheel type rollers and carriers. These would most likely be steel or aluminium and custom bent to your bay profile....but not supplied by me. Plastic bendable tracks with wheeled rollers have been tested but work only if you mount a controller at either end i.e. two independent tracks.
- Q. Can the track be ceiling mounted as well as cantilevered off the wall?
A. Yes
- Q. Can I control two or more controllers with one remote controller?
A. Yes, it is possible to have more than one curtain controller synchronised to one remote controller and, the curtains they control can be different spans. The timers however are not synchronised, therefore timed openings and closures may not be exactly together but should be with seconds of each other (if you simultaneously to set the clocks).
- Q. What colour is the controller?
A. White (but you don't see it as its mounted out of sight behind the curtains).
- Q. When my controller is in timer mode, can I open the curtains on the remote controller?
A. Operating the remote controller always overrides the timer. Also, if for example you have set your curtains to open at 07.00 hrs and you partially open them at say 06.30 hrs, then at 07.00 hrs they will continue to open fully.
- Q. What happens if there is a power failure when I am away from home?
-
A. When the power is restored, the curtains will move to the assigned position. So, lets say the power fails at 16.30 hours and you have set your curtains to close at 18.00 hrs. The power is restored at 20.00 hrs, then at that time the curtains will drive to the closed position.
- Q.What is the life of the back-up battery?
A. The battery will retain the clock and programmed times for weeks. The battery is continuously charged and doesn't have to be replaced.
- Q. Does the remote controller come supplied with a battery?
A. Yes is comes with a 12 volt alkaline battery
- Q. Can the timer open and close my curtains at different times each day?
The timer can be programmed for up to 8 open and close cycles each day, at the same time each day, different times each day, Monday to Friday the same, with weekends on or off etc.
- Q. Can the curtains be operated manually
A. Yes they can be operated electrically (no timer or remote controller) from the panel on the Open and Close buttons and also by pulling the cord (total failure situation).
- Q. What length of cable does the controller come with?
A. The power cable is 1.7 metres in length.
- Q. Where is the controller manufactured?
A. In China and the design, development and assembly has all been undertaken with close co-operation with/by a UK qualified engineer. The manufacturer has an excellent international reputation with customers such as B&Q, Walmart, Argos and Ikea (other electrical items).
- Q. Does the controller works with vertical blinds?
A. It will draw cord operated vertical blinds open like a curtain but will not move the slats through 90 degrees (the motor run time to do this is too short for accurate control).
- Q. Why are you so much cheaper than the other models on the market?
A. I only sell direct, and, so far, only on Ebay.
- Q. Your shipping charges seem high.
A. Actually, the amount I charge represents about 75% of the true cost. Unfortunately, the track creates the problem and only certain overnight shippers undertake to carry lengths longer than 1.5 metres.
- Q. Do you ship overseas?
A. Yes....contact me for conditions but I do not ship the track overseas - (ok to Eire).
- Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. Yes, these are processed via Paypal.
My returns policy extends to full reimbursement including shipping costs....so you have nothing to lose if you choose to return the system. Still sceptical?....Please read my feedbacks.
