It has a very simple twistgrip throttle with a push button switch that allows you to switch between either pedal power or throttle power. We recommend the use of the throttle as no power is used until this is opened. This means you can ride the flat roads and down hills as an standard cycle and only use power when the going gets harder on the slopes or hills. Our customers tell us the range of the bike is nearly 40 miles in this mode rather that the 20 miles when on pedal assist. Its a great way to get gentle exercise without ever pushing yourself too much and as you get fitter you use the throttle less and less.
The bike has an alluminium frame for weight reduction and steel forks for strength. It has a quick release battery system so when you load the bike you only lift the 18:5kilos not the 21 when the bike is complete. Combined with the speedy folding/unfolding mechanism this makes the bike extremely easy to transport. The battery is fitted with a key lock to prevent unauthorised removal.
The bike has a full 6 speed Shimano gear system with a left hand gripshifter so you have all the normal gears as well as electric power. The bike feels light when riding and feels no different from a standard pedal type folder as the brushless motor has no resistance when going forward. 30-35 km on pedal assistance Will the bike pull you up a hill on battery power alone ? We're afraid the answer is no. None of the road legal electric bikes will do this as the power output of the motor is strictly governed by E.E.C. regulations. Also the electrical power must legally cut out at over 15mph. If you are on pedal assist mode the power must also cut out when you stop pedalling. The bike must also have the capability to be pedal assisted which is why the electric scooters without pedals are illegal. When these regulations are met no tax, insurance, MOT or license is required. When you reach the slopes and hills the bike with the power on only requires gentle pedal assistance to climb them. All normal slopes and hills then feel like you are still riding on the flat. They will not climb Ben Nevis slopes but they will surprise you as to what they will climb with ease. The new MK2 now has about the same amount of power on pedal assist but now has increased throttle power due to an electronic upgrade.
The Electrobike puts all the fun back into cycling without any downside. Many of our customers are seniors who see this type of exercise as an ideal way to keep all the joints mobile or to strengthen arthrictic or poorly knees without ever pushing themselves too hard and the frame entry point is very low to help this. The bike has a 12 month no quibble warranty (excluding punctures). We are excellent mechanics having previously run a speedway motorcycle shop for 13 years and a large village garage for 10 years. We still have the same staff after all these years and we have never found anything we cannot fix or some solution to a customers problem. We attend shows all year round (see our show list) and would invite you to come and see our products (most outdoor shows you can try them out and ride them). Pictures are one thing, trying it out and seeing for yourself is another. You may visit our home base Nr Coventry Mon – Weds 9am – 4pm by appointment to also try out our bikes and our mechanics will try to tailor the bike to suit your particular requirements. Please just get in touch for help or directions. We give a ONE YEAR WARRANTY on all our bikes and it really means something. We have been around for 7 years now and have all parts you will ever need and a technical backup that is second to none. Everthing on our bikes has been thouroughly thought out so they are fully adjustable to fit your body shape. You can move the handlebars backwards or forwards or even replace them with a shape that suits you. You cannot do that with a telescopic Tee bar as offered on most other bikes. The seat is ajustable to enable you to move the saddle backwards and forwards nearly 3"- 75mm so if you are short, you can get nearer the bars and if tall away from the bars increasing leg movement. If you are tall your knees will not touch or get near the bars as there is plenty of clearance.
We attend nearly every major Motorhome, Caravan and Canal boat show in the country so you can come and have a look and test drive them.
