Edwardian Solid Silver top & Velvet Lined Jewellery, Trinket or Ring Box by L Smith & Co dated 1905

This Edwardian Jewellery, Trinket & Ring Box measures approximately 4 1/4 inches or 109 mm across by 2 1/2 inches or 64 mm wide and it stands 1 7/8 inches or 49 mm tall, it is made in a rectangular shape from a wooden outer body that has been velvet lined and the box has a hinged lid that has been mounted with an embossed or relief decorated panel as photographed. The box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the silver panel has been impressed with a full set of English solid silver hallmarks that read as follows,

L.S & Co - Anchor - Lion Passant - f

L.S & Co is the Birmingham makers mark of Lionel Smith & Co, the Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English solid sterling silver and the letter f is the date letter for 1905.

The condition is used with No Large Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the box stands straight, the hinge is working perfectly, the lid opens and closes with ease, the hallmark is still legible although as this jewellery box is a used antique the interior has been re lined with felt and it does have some wear to the other linings, the top has some small shallow dents and the box has some surface wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and as I have left this box in the totally original condition that it was found a gentle clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this trinket or jewellery box can still be used today and that it looks delightful considering that its over 100 years old.
