This Edwardian satinwood dressing table has been given a fresh up to the minute look thanks to Laura Ashley's Ivory Eggshell to its drawer fronts, legs and sides as well as to the trinket shelf and mirror supports above.
The upper section which is removeable from the base comprises a bevelled mirror with satinwood frame and pierced pediment, very evocative of the arts & crafts movement. This tilts on its original fittings supported by decorative shaped uprights and serpentine trinket shelf between. It is important to note that there is foxing to the mirror though not sufficient to prevent this being used effectively.
The top is in very nice condition with no unsightly stains and has been waxed to enhance the golden patina. There are two dovetailed drawers below providing ample storage with their original antique drop handles, locks and escutcheons - though the key is no longer available.
The whole piece stands on straight tapering legs. All joints are sound and there was no evidence of active worm, though any suspect old holes have been treated with Cuprinol for your added peace of mind.
The paintwork has been lightly distressed for a more worn look and waxed to enhance the sheen.
This would compliment either pine or other satinwood furniture. If you are looking for a satinwood wardrobe, do check out my other items for sale. If eligible for our personal delivery service we will charge the one appropriate delivery charge for both items. Please email prior to purchase for confirmation and quote.
I'll leave the pics to describe this best. Please note any items displayed are not included, but to give an idea of scale.
Would International Bidders please note that they will need to make their own arrangements for shipping overseas. See details of our recommended courier below, and note also that payment from overseas can only be accepted via Pay Pal.
As with all my listings, this is a vintage item and as such does come with some evidence of age. If you are looking for pristine condition, then this might not be for you. I do try to give an accurate description of the condition, as I hope my feedback testifies, but this is always relative. I would urge you, therefore, where possible to arrange a viewing by prior appointment to satisfy yourself prior to bidding. Do bear in mind that Ebay final prices often reflect the fact that an item is being bought sight unseen and, there is, therefore, an element of risk. That said, the end price is likely to be much lower than you would pay in an antique shop where the cost of overheads is built in to the retail price.
Thank you for looking.
According to Greenpeace, a football pitch-sized area of forest disappears every two seconds to feed an ever-increasing global demand for wood. Do your bit for the Planet by buying an item of pre-loved furniture that will not cost the Earth. Why buy repro, when you can have an original?
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT OR TWO TO READ THE PAYMENT & SHIPPING TERMS BELOW.

FULL DETAILS ARE AVAILABLE BY CLICKING ON THE 'ABOUT ME' LINK (me) NEXT TO THE POWER SELLER SYMBOL under 'Meet the Seller' at the top of this listing. Please note that while we are not a Retail Shop, we do offer a continuous changing stock of Antiques & Vintage items that are likely to be alot less than you would pay in any conventional antiques shop.
Would the successful bidder please make contact via email or phone within 24 hours of the auction close to notify me of their intentions regarding payment & collection/delivery. My contact details will be noted on the invoice sent upon auction close.
Would International Bidders please note that payment from overseas can only be accepted via Pay Pal.
UK TRANSACTIONS:
1. Cash: Cash is acceptable, either on collection or delivery, by prior agreement within 5 days from final bid/Buy It Now purchase.
2. Personal Cheque: I allow 5 working days' clearance of cheques from banking, so please bear this in mind if you require your item quickly. As we are in a village, it is not always possible to bank cheques on the day of receipt. You might want to consider an alternative method, if so. Would you please make cheques payable to J. Willis - not Owl Cottage Collectables.
3. Pay Pal: If you wish to pay by Debit or Credit Card it is easy to do so via Pay Pal. It is the Seller who is charged for this service and while we do not pass this cost on to the customer, we would appreciate prompt payment via Pay Pal. It can take up to 5 days for a Pay Pal payment to be transferred to our bank account - so if you delay payment by Pay Pal, this delays our reimbursement costs to that extent + the extra 5 days!
However, A Pay Pal E-cheque takes up to 10 days to clear and I still have to pay for the priviledge. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS METHOD as it is quicker to send a personal cheque for clearance, and you will receive your item much faster.
NON-PAYMENT
Unfortunately, I have now had my fair share of non-paying bidders so I regretfully have to point out that a Payment Reminder will be sent automatically after 5 days via Ebay.
After 7 days a Non-Paying Bidder dispute will be opened and if no satisfactory response is received during this process, a Negative Feedback will be left. There should be no necessity for it to get to this stage, if the buyer emails or phones to say there was a good reason why they had bid but have now had to delay payment. Communication really is the key to a trouble-free transaction.

The buyer is more than welcome to collect by prior arrangement to save on postage costs. I'm afraid we do not use Parcel Force as we dont want this damaged in transit. However, we can deliver personally within a 70 mile radius of Royston, Herts, and remember, this rate is per lot, not per item, so do check out my other items for sale to get even better value for your delivery charge. (Applicable to Personal Delivery Rates only - please email for confirmation of eligibility prior to bidding).

COLLECTIONS:
When items are to be collected, please allow for the fact that we are not at home 24-7 and that some flexibility will be necessary. If you can only collect on a given day it is best to check prior to bidding to see if I am available for collection on that day to avoid disappointment. We are very often delivering at the weekends and unavailable for collections during the hours of 9.30 am - 5.30 pm Saturday & Sunday.
Due to parking restrictions and roads into our village being narrow, if an item is to be collected in a commercial vehicle we would prefer to meet the driver at J10 of the A1M, Radwell Services, Baldock to deliver the item there by prior arrangement.
Unfortunately, due to limited space, if an item is not collected after 2 weeks unless by prior agreement, I will have to charge £5 per week for storage and the item will be disposed of after 90 days.
Contrary to what some sellers might lead you to believe, bulk couriers do not insure for damage in transit of antique items of furniture and, very often, any furniture that is not described as 'flat-packed'. Shipment via this method is therefore at the buyer's own risk and any claim for compensation will be in accordance with the specific courier's terms.
If using Abbey, they do include insurance in their final quotation for damage in transit. Photos of the damage will be required and any claim will need to be made direct by you, their customer, direct with them.
In regard to smaller items that might be sent via Parcelforce or Royal Mail, proof of postage and/or tracking number, where applicable, will be obtained. Any claim will need to be processed via their normal claims procedure which can take several weeks. Please send photos of damage and retain all packaging.
