In its simplest form, solar power can be described as the conversion of sunlight into electricity. This can be achieved through various methods, but by far the most common is photovoltaics, where power is converted and used directly, (with no intermittent processes).

Solar Bugs

Our solar bugs are the ultimate environmentaly friendly toy. All that is required for these crazy crickets to jitter around is direct sunlight. Artificial light does also work, but it has to be very strong and undiffused.

These little critters are also educational, with the sensitivity of their solar panel demonstrating solar power in its rawest form. Any cloud cover or shadow restricts their jitters, but on a clear day they go like the clappers.
