You are bidding on a stylish and attractive handmade Echo of Deco ceramic mantel clock in a classic Art Deco inspired Manhattan 2 fan design. Designed and made by Malcolm Akerman this clock is another success story from the British Echo Of Deco ceramic studios who have produced many highly creative and original Art Deco inspired designs.

This clock has been hand glazed in Echo of Decos Mahogany Flame glaze, which suits the geometric design of this timepiece very well.

The inspiration for this distinctive handmade timepiece comes from combining the aspirant feeling of the roaring twenties with the exciting Art Deco skyline of Manhattan, New York. Due to the limited space available and booming economy higher and higher skyscrapers were being built in New York during the first years of the 20th Century. These tall structures were of such a size and proximity that they blocked out the daylight reaching the streets below, reducing the general quality of life for the cities inhabitants. In 1916 a zoning law was passed in certain districts, which restricted a buildings height to its plot size. As a result the high rise skyscrapers built during the 1920's and 30's were creatively designed to be stepped back in accordance with the new law. This is the reason the city of Manhattan has its distinctive Architecture and iconic Art Deco skyline.

This piece of individual ceramic art was handmade and designed at the Echo of Deco Studio / Art Pottery in the UK.

Echo of Deco was founded by the British ceramic design team Russell and Malcolm Akerman and is a contemporary ceramic studio specializing in designing and individually handmaking original ceramic objects in the classic Art Deco style. The day to day running of the studio is carried out by Russell Akerman who in addition to his Art deco design work is well respected for his wheel thrown studio pottery.

Echo of Deco have many collectors in Canada, America and Europe as well as all over the UK.  Echo of Deco have also been featured in leading magazines. All their work is hand made in very small numbers and only by designers,  Malcom or Russell Akerman, at their studio pottery in the UK.

Echo Of Deco is becoming increasingly known for its artistic quality & originality in design and these hand made pieces of art pottery will no doubt prove to be a very good and enjoyable investment for the future.

This mantel clock is in perfect new working condition and comes direct from our gallery.

This mantel clock is powered by a single AA size battery.

This clock has also been signed by Malcolm Akerman and bears the distinctive Echo Of Deco backstamp for authenticity.

Height approx 15cm

This sale also includes an attractive and collectable Echo Of Deco hand signed and date numbered certificate of authenticity.

Thank you for looking and good luck in bidding.
