Thank you for looking...
Appearance / Subject: This is a wonderful English Staffordshire milk or cream jug and sugar bowl set. In this case it is in a Jackfield finish – that is a black glaze over a red clay body.
They have a diamond shape, but with a curve to the body (like a spinning top).
The lower half of both pieces is ribbed, and the top half wonderfully decorated in over the basic black with an intricate gilt floral pattern.
The jug has a single handle (as you would expect), and the bowl has two handles. The handles sweep round in a wide set “C” scroll with a flattened top and a re-curved return.
The spout of the jug is ribbed on the outside, and the ribbing is defined by gilt decoration.
The foot and neck rim of both pieces are gilded, and the handles are gilded around their outside curves.
It is a superb and eye catching little set, and looks fabulous when displayed.
EXCELLENT GIFT ITEM!

DISPLAYS WONDERFULLY.
Manufacture: English – probably Staffordshire, (unmarked).
I have a teapot in stock which dispite some differences obviously comes from the same factory, and is an obvious design variant on this range.
That teapot has an impressed design registration number which dates its design to 1921.
I would therefore date this milk jug and sugar bowl to as circa 1925 (1921 to 1929).
Condition: Excellent / Very Good.
There is a small chip in the foot of the milk jug on one side, and a minimal amount of loss / rubbing to the gilding on the handles, and some very minor surface scratching.
There are no cracks, or restoration present, and no major manufacturing flaws.
GREAT BUY!!!!!!
