What is it? This is a (multi protocol) all OBD2 vehicle diagnostic interface. It's a small box of electronic wizardry that plugs into the OBD2 diagnostic port in the car
The interface is inserted into the OBD2 diagnostic link connector (port,socket) in the vehicle to be tested A lead from the interface has a USB plug on the end of it and that goes into a laptop or other computer
Pros and Cons
This diagnostic interface is a tried and tested quality product, and very easy to connect. An interface and some good computer software will enable you to interact with the OBD 2 system in a vehicle. The extent of interaction via an interface is greatly dependent upon the quality of the diagnostic software that you use.
With diagnostic software, as with everything else, the more you pay the more you can expect to get for your money. There is a lot of free demo and trial software available on the net for a diagnostic interface which allows you a taste of the full versions. Any diagnostic interface is only as good as the computer software used with it. The right working combination makes a great kit for investigation, diagnosis and fast repair of vehicles.
Do remember that any free software is usually a cut down version of the full programme with limited functions and you have to put your hand in your pocket for the full monty which gives you access to all functions in a programme.
On the downside, an interface and computer are not as portable as a handheld scanner and if the computer or the diagnostic software is playing up, the interface won't work. Installing & configuring software can be frustrating when the software doesn't run smoothly so it's not an ideal set-up for somebody who is not very good with computers, but we do give every help with set-up, you only have to ask.

About this diagnostic interface
All these interfaces are only for the engine & not airbags,abs,service etc It supports all OBD2 protocols:
• ISO15765-4 (CAN) • ISO14230-4 (KWP2000) • ISO9141-2 • J1850 VPW • J1850 PWM Output protocol: RS232 Baud rate: 9600 or 38400
It has transmission and receiving lights on the box so you can see when it's connecting. Indicator LEDs: OBD Tx/Rx, RS232 Tx/Rx,
The interface is powered via the diagnostic socket in the car. Operating voltage is 12V with an internal protection from short circuits/overvoltages. Nominal idle current: 45 mA

A short time reading this now can save a lot of time wasted later This interface only works with OBD2 systems (OBD II ) OBD2 is the current diagnostic standard throughout the world in all modern vehicles OBD2 should have been installed in all petrol CARS built for the European market from January 1st 2001 and should have been installed in all diesel CARS built for the European market from January 2004. Not suitable for vans & commercial vehicles For OBD2 a vehicle must have a 16 pin diagnostic socket like the one shown below
but having the socket doesn't guarantee the car is fitted with OBD2 so you need to verify the system
· IMPORTANT NOTICE Whilst the majority of people are fair & honest, an increasing number of unscrupulous people are ordering tools, fixing their cars and claiming the tools don’t work and they want some money back. In some cases tools are returned with a demand for a refund including all postage. This deviousness by some buyers is becoming an increasing problem I don’t claim to know everything but as the biggest importer of these tools, I have sold enough of them to know in most cases what vehicles they are compatible with but I am no longer prepared to give any guarantee that any tools will work with any particular car. As usual, a minority spoil it for the majority.
You buy strictly on condition and in the knowledge that the tool may not link with a car, whether OBD2 or not. You can still return the tool within the period allowed but it is also a condition of sale that postage costs will not be refunded.
