EBC Greenstuff pads are the most well known after market performance pad on the market in the newest AF44/78 formulation in the premium street 2000 series grade. In closed tests at MIRA Research Facility this friction material provided a 9 metre shorter stopping distance compared to OEM pads on a test vehicle. These pads are suberb quality, Britsh made in the EBC factory in Bristol. They can reduce disc wear and give extended pad service life in many cases If your requirements are for a heavier use on more highly tuned cars them the Redstuff ceramic compound 3000 series grade may be more appropriate. In similar MIRA tests this stopped a saloon car 13 metres quicker than OEM pads from 100 MPH. For track day or race applications we are able to offer the Yellowstuff pad. 4000 series grade. Although a full race material and capable of high temperature use with very good wear life, this new formulation sets a new benchmark in race type brake pad compounds. The bite from cold is superb which is uncommon with race materials which normally require warm up. This pad can be safely used on the highway as well as on the race track. This new formulation has been used by numerous championship race and rally drivers since 2004 and is the official pad of the Subaru Challenge. Technical details Greenstuff The AF44/78 Kevlar based Aramind fibre formulation produces minimal brake dust (up to 80% reduction) with a pad with a nominal coefficient of 0.55. Excellent anti fade properties with instant bite from cold with operation brake temperatures up to 650 degrees C. Suitable for vehicles with a power output up to 200BHP. Above this then Redstuff pads should be used. Technical details Redstuff This pad utillizes a Ceramic formulation producing less dust than semi-metallic pads and capable of taking repeated heavy braking. Capable of taking temperatures up to 750 degrees C. Nominal friction coefficient of 0.50 with approximately 50% reduction in dust compared to other pads
Technical details Yellowstuff Yellowstuff is capable of high temperature use effective up to 800 degrees C, with good wear life and a slightly lower friction coefficient than Greenstuff. It has good bite from cold which is uncommon with race materials, yet can be safely used on the highway. It has a nominal friction coefficient of 0.60 with no detrement to the discs and similar dust generation to the original pads.Suited to short circut races of 20-30 laps.
Technical details Bluestuff This endurance grade is the longest lasting material with a slightly lower friction coefficient than the other grades of material of 0.55, good temperature stability to over 800 degrees C, intended for races over 20-30 laps or endurance events. All pads from all ranges are supplied with BRAKE-IN COATING, this mild abrasive red coating is applied to the surface of the friction material to help the pad bed in quickly after installation. Most pads are suppled with EDGE CHAMFERS which prevent low speed brake noise caused by pad "bounce" Contrary to expectation edge chamfers do not reduce pad life and in some cases have been found to actually enhance pad wear life as the pad operates more efficiently. We can provide other brake pads for this model as well as for any other vehicles in the EBC range, More information can be found on the EBC website Driver Advice Allow at least 300 miles for pads/discs to bed in. During this bedding in period braking may be less effective until components 'seat' correctly, heavy use during the bedding in period may cause surface carbonisation and produce excessive dust. Brake pads should be inspected for wear every 3000 miles as varying load and use conditions can affect wear rates. Badly worn pads can cause partial or total loss of braking with the risk of accidents and injury. Pads should be changed when the friction material reaches 3mm thick at the very thinest or when uneven wear is detected.If discs are badly worn do not be tempted just to replace the pads as a cheap fix, it will cost you more in the long run and you risk yours and other road users safety. Do not fit rattle shims with new pads, clean discs of any deposits. If in doubt about the condition of your brakes seek expert advice.
