Part of a fairly large collection of ORIGINAL,PERSONALLY SIGNED photographs that I acquired at a recent live probate auction of items from a large home in Bayswater,London. This is a 5.5"(14cm) by 3.5"(9cm) studio photographic postcard of a young TALLULAH BANKHEAD no less, personally signed by her in ink.She was born on 31st.Jan.1902 in Huntsville,Alabama and died on 12th.Dec.1968 in St.Luke's Hospital,New York City.Tallulah was a free-swinging flapper of her age,and was a major force on Broadway and was as famous for her shenanigans off stage as for her flamboyant performances on stage. She was well known for her Rolls Royce, suntan and non-stop partying. Two of her famous quotations were "I'm as pure as the driven slush" and "No-one can be exactly like me,even I have trouble doing it".Adored by the likes of Joan Crawford, she had such authority and she was held in high esteem in both the film world and the theatre. This is a FABULOUS ORIGINAL item with no tears or marks, other than the position of the original mounts and the autograph is excellent condition, having been kept in an album for most of its 70 years or so life. I will shortly be listing other AUTHENTIC signed photos from the past, including Sir Noel Coward,Paul Robeson ,Sir John Gielgud,Sybil Thorndike,Gladys Cooper,Fay Compton,Ivor Novello,Charles Laughton,Gertrude Lawrence to name but a few. Thanks for looking.
