HERE IS A LOVELY QUALITY IMARI
PLATE. I BELIEVE IT WAS MADE AROUND 1820.
THE PLATE IS ALL HAND-DECORATED WITH A FENCE AND GARDEN PATTERN, USING AN IMARI PALETTE OF UNDERGLAZE BLUE, IRON RED AND GOLD. THE REVERSE IS DECORATED WITH TWO FLOWERING BRANCHES.
I CAN'T DECIDE IF THIS PLATE IS JAPANESE OR CHINESE - IT IS LIGHT IN WEIGHT AND HAS A GREYISH /BLUE /GREEN GLAZE AND AN UNGLAZED FOOTRIM. THE LOOK AND FEEL OF THE PIECE IS CHINESE.
THE PLATE MEASURES 9 INCHES IN DIAMETER.
THE CONDITION OVERALL IS EXCELLENT, APART FROM A VERY FINE STAR-SHAPED GLAZE HAIRLINE ON THE BACK, WHICH IS NOT VISIBLE AT THE FRONT, AND A TINY NIBBLE FROM THE BACK OF THE RIM.

I use large bubble & new sturdy, double-walled boxes to pack, which may be heavier than normal boxes (and therefore a bit more costly more to ship), but offer a much greater degree of protection for fragile items. Please be assured that I make every effort to pack items very securely, but I cannot be held responsible for items negligently damaged by the postal system. I will, of course, offer every assistance in any claims for compensation from Royal Mail.
