Hi All,
Welcome to my Dutton Melos auction.
I bought the Dutton in February this year from a kit car enthusiast from near Preston. We had a bit of a nightmare getting it to North Yorkshire, electrical issues that have now been sorted. He bought it as an unfinished project from Scotland.
It has been fitted with a new petrol tank, rewired and an attempt to redo the interior. The original donor car was a mark 1 or 2 Ford escort , the 1300 crossflow engine seems to have been looked after , it pulls really strongly through all the gears. It is a little tappety and it does use a small amount of oil but hey its over 25 years old! The gearbox is very precise , quite tight in fact and there is a small whine from the diff. No brake servo I'm affraid but it does pull up keenly.
The bodywork is looking its age , various parts of the glassfibre body has grazing but no real issues. I didnt give the car a polish , this would have hidden the fact that parts of the paintwork have dulled.Again its an old car and its not in bad order. Comes complete with comedy all weather gear! Hope you like press studs! Lights work , wipers are a joke , mirrors are only for the MOT(1 missing) and the suspension is from a time gone by. Zetec wheels are in good order and 1 of the tyres could do with changing in a couple of thousand miles.
The interior is the one area that could do with a little work. Comedy dash tells the odd porky, the odometer is obviously totally wrong, the speedo is about 15mph out at 60, rev counter doesnt work, temp gauge needs a flick and petrol gauge thinks it has a bigger tank. It really needs bucket seats, a job I have not got round to. It is fitted with the finest home made seats , the backs are good but the seats have been modified to suit the narrow car. The drivers seat is actually loose. Steering wheel is round and the switch gear could to with renewing. To do a proper job it wants a new dash , buckets and switches, but it does all work.
Please remember this car was built in 1984 and the donor car was even older. It is not in any way shape or form a modern car, if you havn't driven a kit car before be warned!!!! For those who have its not as good as a Robin Hood or Westfield but it has alot of positives and character.
I hope I have given a fair description of the Dutton but no doubt I have missed some things. Please come and see the car at any time during the auction and any questions email me by all means. Please don't bid whilst pi**ed! Anyone with low or negative feedback please email first.
Thanks for looking.

I will secure the subframe before the auction ends. I insured the Dutton 3rd party F&F with Footman James for £90.30 without any spare no claims bonus(Cheap motoring).
