Here's my Dutton B-Plus kit car. Due to a growing family I sadly do not have the time (or the available seats!) to be able to use it as much as I should. The time has come for it to pass on to a new owner who can use it as it should be used.
The Basics: You are looking at a two-seater, open top sports car. Front engined, rear wheel drive with a power to weight ratio to rival quite a few other cars out on the road. It's a blast to drive and certainly sounds the part too.
The detail: This car was completely rebuilt in 2004 by Pete Brown, who is highly regarded in Dutton circles. I spent around £3K on the rebuild so I feel the car is evry reasonably priced. The work done includes the following:
- Completely rebuilt 135BHP 1.7l crossflow from Vulcan engineering which would almost be worth the price on its own.
- Single dellorto 45 carburettor on a lynx manifold.
- 4:1 side exit exhaust system.
- Completely replaced wiring loom including battery cutoff key.
- Digi dash integrated instrument panel
- New, custom made radiator
- Weller wheels
The only things I have not had the time to do are to paint the car and to tart up the interior seating but these do not affect the driving one bit.
I'd like to see the car going to a home where I know it will be used and will be sad to see it go but needs must. It's been a great car for me and I'm sure it could be for you too.
