This is a stunning charcoal grey winter coat from the belgian designer Dries Van Noten. As you always get from this genius, the attention to detail is awesome, and hard to know where to start! Essentially, it is a knee skimming straight cut coat, that can be worn loose or ( as I prefer ) belted and tied, although it has a dark metal buckle, it looks cooler tied. While the label says it is 100% cotton, it is no mean coat! It must be the heaviest cotton I know, and it is lined in a dark pinstripe cotton. The wide silk collar is embroidered in a black cotton, and the turn back sleeve bottoms have the same treatment. This automatically makes the coat multi functional, yet it is not in any way tacky. The top back has small pintucks, and this ensures a neat, non bulky silhouette. It is marked medium in size --- I am a size 12Uk and it is a perfect fit, but as it is essentially a wrap style, either smaller or bigger could wear it just as well. It is in perfect, clean condition and I would go so far as to say, this is an investment item. |
