Description:
An excellent pencil portrait pastel on artist's paper, signed "Dorothy Say" and dating circa 1970s - 1980s. Framed - approx 25 X 21 inches (63.5 X 53.34cm).

This is an excellent English School pastel dating from the late 20th Century period.
The portrait depicts `a fine study of a young African woman. She wears a peach coloured wrap around her shoulders, and matching peach coloured headscarf. She wears sparkling earrings. The artist has great use of light and shade depicting her features, gazing deep in thought through dark brown eyes. A fine composition. The pastel bears the artist's label verso "Portrait by Dorothy Say, Bromley, Kent - Titled Hippy".
The work is signed "Dorothy Say" lower left.

The pastel probably dates to around 1970s - 1980s.
Framing:
Contemporary plain moulded Gesso work. Finish: Gilt.
The pastel is mounted on board and has a gilt mount.
Condition:
The pastel is in excellent original condition. The frame has an antiqued gilded finish.
