This item is designed to encourage children's creative thinking skills in an engaging and enjoyable way to encourage them to plan improvements to an area of your school.

Children are guided through the following stages of design:

• The design challenge - This states the task and prompts children what to think about.
• The design plan - Which prompts children to think about their design, what they will need, costs and permissions.
• The design itself - A blank canvas for design creation (with a reminder to label their design).
• The Evaluation - Encourages children to consider the effectiveness of their design, evaluate the skills they have learnt and the difficulties they encountered.

This item can be used to support the 'Improving your local environment' geography resource but is also great fun to use in isolation or as a part of other topics.
