For over 30 years Grainge and Hodder Ltd have been providing a Photo-Etching
service to the Model Railway trade and the Railway Modeller.
From a single G gauge chassis to a run of 5000 N Gauge Nameplates we have produced
high quality Etched components for Modellers all over the world.
If you have ever sat down and assembled a Brass etched kit, there is a good chance we produced the etched components in it!!
For the last couple of years we have attended the Warley Model Railway exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham as exhibitors, rather than visitors, and have been suprised at the number of modellers who were not aware of the Photo-Etching process, how it works, and how little it can cost to have components made.
Illustrated below are a selection of components we have made for past and current customers. It is not neccesary to be in the Model Trade to use our services, in fact many of our customers produce only for themselves, but it is true to say that designing and making your first Wagon often leads to a thriving business selling them to other modellers!
This auction is for an information pack.
Included is a description and explaination of the Photo-Etching process, list and sizes of materials, hints and tips on producing camera ready artwork for Photo-etching & even a small simple brass model car designed to illustrate how the process works.
For the more experienced designer there are also tips on CAD design for producing plotted photo-etch tooling.
This pack is designed for people wishing to design their own kits or models & produce artwork or photo-tooling for professional Photo-etching.
It is not a kitchen sink guide to doing acid etching at home.
Please note, for the majority of normal sane people the description is very clear, this is an information pack for people wishing to produce etched kits or models. It is very informative, and gives tips and pointers for producing Artwork or Photo-tooling, however you will not receive a do it yourself etching machine, instructions on setting up an etching business, a real live steam locomotive, a full size Liverpool tram or a full set of production drawings for a Mallard!!!!!!
Incredible as it sounds, one buyer recently thought his £1.00 buy it now was getting him an actual Tram plus a live steam loco, another thought he was buying a full set of all the tools, materials and plans to restore a full size Loco!!!
We have tried to make the description idiot proof, but sometimes even that isn`t enough!
