We are delighted to announce details of the long awaited Audi approved Dension Gateway 500 digital music interface that is now available.

The Dension Gateway 500 allows digital music devices such as iPod, USB-based music players and other external audio sources to be connected and controlled by the MMI system in the A6, allroad,A5, Q7 and A8. Please note on the Audi A5 it will only work with the MMI high system (colour screen).

Please note that this system is only approved for fitment to vehicles with MMI High (colour screen) on the Audi A5. 

The Dension Gateway 500 is controlled in a similar way to the factory fitted Audi Music Interface (AMI) system but the user interface varies slightly in look and functionality. AMI is not currently available for retro-fit and there is no definite date of when it will be available from the factory.

The Dension Gateway 500 supports the Apple iPod and USB-based music players and mass storage devices that make it easy to enjoy digital music whilst driving.

A key feature of Dension products is that when using a USB device such as a flash memory stick or portable hard disk, the Gateway creates a music database of the files on the USB device, extracting

Artist, Album and Playlist information from the information in the music files. This means that the customer can browse music on a USB device or mp3 player in the same way as on an iPod.

The system includes the functionality to search through a large music collection using an alphabetical search tree instead of having to scroll through a long list of artists or tracks.

The same browser interface is used to select the music source that you want to listen to whether it’s iPod, USB, auxiliary input audio (for example from a rear-seat entertainment system) or the car’s original CD changer.
