This beautiful blue and white Delft Style Tile is nicely framed in gold. Because of its glossy finish (front and back) and the fact that it's not marked on the back, makes it an "English Delftware" produced around 1900. The original makers of Delft Tiles started in Brugges, Belgium, in the late 15th Century by the Andries family. Later, members of the family Andries emigrated to England and started to produce Delft Tiles and other products This tile deplicts a lake with several sail boats surrounded by classic Dutch Windmills. It's in perfect condition...it stands five inches tall and is twelve inches wide. This tile was bought in the very early 1980's from Anne Taggart of the UK who speciality was Antique English and European Tiles. The frame is not old and was made by her husband, Freddy, who did framing for her tiles and customers pictures.
