The book itself aims to address both the pathogenesis of disease and the principles and practice of clinical medicine. The book uses a factual and up to date approach to educate students and Doctor's alike.

The text is divided into two main sections entitled `Principles of medicine' and `Practice of medicine' respectively. The first section of the book explores good medical practice, good prescribing, molecular and immunological factors in disease, environmental and nutritional factors in disease as well as principles of infectious disease and ageing.

The text is comprehensive and very up to date using digestible language to inform and educate the reader. The use of detailed colour diagrams and pictures also enhances the readers understanding and makes the text more manageable.
