David Roberts was born in 1796 in Edinburgh. He became an excellent landscape painter & one of the most acclaimed artists of his time. After travelling at length in Europe, Roberts left for Egypt in 1838. These lithographs made by Belgian engraver, Louis Haghe, from his drawings of that remarkable journey were published in London and brought Roberts lasting fame. These are high quality prints and suitable for framing. They measure 19" x 13½" approx and are all of Ancient Egypt. This one in particular is The Sphinx. Please check out my other items. |
