 Fantastic victorian majolica Monkey  jug. This has a rich honey glaze, with darker detailing around the face and ears. there is on some parts a lack of glaze on the jug, but overall this is very usual on how they were made back then. the jug is in good condition with no chips or cracks. appox 8"inches tall

I believe the  design was a response to the outcry that attended the first publication of Darwin's Origin of Species,.Darwin's ideas on evolution were ridiculed by many.
