DUNCAN AND SONS EAPG BUTTON PANEL PUNCH BOWL W/ 14 CUPS
WONDERFUL ESTATE FIND!!! This listing is for a wonderful George Duncan & Sons EAPG (Early American Pattern Glass) Punch Bowl with 14 matching Cups. This antique pattern is called Button Panel, (ca.1890-1900) but is also known as Diamond Crystal or Rainbow Variant. The large punch bowl measures 15 3/4 inches in diameter, and 6 1/2 inches tall. The thick handled cups measure 3 inches wide, and 2 3/8 inches tall. All 15 pieces are in excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks. The bowl has beautiful clarity and luster. The two cups pictured alone represent the cups worst and best clarity and luster. The bowl has considerable wear on the base ring which indicates it had no base or underplate. The cups were wrapped in newspaper for the last 32 years (high acid), which may account for the varying clarity.
As some of you know.... I'm a sucker for EAPG pieces. This pattern is one I've never seen before. However, I was able to find a few smaller pieces scattered here and there on the internet. My research indicates that pieces in this pattern are scarce, with the toothpick holder being rare. What I consider remarkable, is that the set was obviously well used, but 14 cups managed to survive.
These pieces are very thick and heavy, with the bowl weighing 10 pounds 11 ounces by itself. Due to the nature of this item, I will pay for the insurance.
