DOMINIC FELS Unique Monoprint NUDE DANCERS c1950
DOMINIC FELS (fl.1920 –1984) English artist. Studied at the Royal Academy Schools, based at Epsom & later Bridgewater in Somerset. Died 1984.
It is interesting to note that the earliest Fels work I have handled was a signed monoprint dated Paris 1927. So we know that this artist flourished right through the 20th century, a witness to an important period in world art. His influences are obvious but it is tantalising to guess exactly who he came in contact with, particularly in the years before the war. It would seem Fels was a private man & so far we have uncovered very little about the details of his career or the man himself. He left a large body of work and appreciation of Dominic Fels is steadily growing around the world.
Demons & devils are a recurring theme in Fels work, often interacting with female nudes. It is apparent these demons portray the artist himself in his exploration of the nature of ‘Eve’. His work is sometimes challenging but also light hearted at the same time, Dominic Fels’ great skill was to combine the sinister with a wry sense of humour.
Fine quality unique monoprint of nude dancers circa 1950. Terrific texture to this Picasso style print.

The photograph of Fels is not included in the sale of this item.
