Rare chance to aquire an original full sized First World War Distinguished Conduct Medal group awarded to Company Sergeant Major Horace. W. Smith who served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion Coldtream Guards.

These medals are new to the market and require further research to establish for what act of bravery he was awarded the DCM.

 Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) officially named in impressed capitals to:

8166 C. S. MJR. W. H. SMITH. 1 / C. GDS.

1914 (Mons) Star with original clasp, British War and Victory medals officially named in impressed capitals to:

8166 A - W. O. CL. 2. H. W. SMITH. C. GDS.    (SJT H. W. SMITH on the Star)

World War 2 Defence Medal is unnamed as issued.

Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal offically named in impressed capitals to:

2646200 W. O. CL 11. H. W. SMITH D. C. M. C. GDS.

 Note that the first 2 numbers (26) of the Regimental No is worn away on the LS&GC.  This is also the case with the Victory Medal with the (8) being worn away.

Also note that his initials are the wrong way around on the DCM.

Medal index card confirms that he was entitled to the clasp and Roses with his 1914 Star and that he was awarded the LS&GC in 1927.

London Gazette Supplement dated 3 June 1919 confirms the award of the DCM and shows that CSM Smith came from Finsbury Park.

Medals are court mounted as worn, the obverse of the medals are worn by over polishing removing some of the details.

Medals also come with a set of dress minatures, a Coldstream Guards Badge and 3 shooting medals, One cased and engraved:
