NO. 208 COOPER-BRISTOL RACING CAR

MINT IN EXCELLENT (UNOPENED) BUBBLE PACK

 
 
The Dinky Cooper Bristol Racing Car: Issued from 1960-62 and particularly rare with red hubs. Illustrated in the May 1955 issue of Meccano magazine under the reference 23G. A very short model run was made in bubble packs in late 1962, and the model was renumbered to 208.

This jaw-dropping item is in mint condition within a sealed bubble pack. As you might imagine, very few of these short-production pieces, whose packaging was intended for single use, have survived to this day. This is only the second example I have seen of this model; which I presume had weaker sales figures than the Ferrari and Maserati; and I hope you are as impressed by it as I am. The pack is unopened, thus the model is mint, and the bubble is perfect. The cardboard has a couple very light creases on the back, and just a small scuff to the front. As always, if you're not happy with one of our models, simply return it for a full refund. Easy peasy.

*Dinky Toys, owned by Meccano / Hornby, were diecast vehicles made in the UK between 1931 and 1979. They were driven out of business by the likes of cheaper, foreign owned competitors such as corgi toys,
hot wheels, matchbox and Triang 'spot-on'. Foden, Bedford, Guy and Leyland were amongst its more popular lines - but unfortunately, towards the end of production, less popular than the likes of the Corgi 267
Batmobile or Corgi 261 James Bond Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5. Dinky Toys have become hugely collectable, and mint &/or boxed models, pre-war cars and rare colour variations tend to attract the best values.
