I will now very carefully explain what this is & what it can do

PLUS (very unusualy) I will say what it NOT good at !

This IS NOT as good as a HEARING AID costing hundreds of pounds, for one thing it is

designed to look more like an `iPod / MP3 player with earphones,

so obviously it cannot fit inside an ear !

This makes it less `descrete` than an IN EAR HEARING AID .

Ok, obvious, but best to point this out upfront .

On the other hand it might pass for an iPod / MP3 player if put in a shirt pocket ?

With the earphones looking just like those used with such machines,

I note you can use ANY 3.5mm mini plug iPod/MP3 earphones with

this player, I sell five colours of PHILIPS `COLOUR MATCH` earphones myself:

SILVER,  PINK, GREEN, PURPLE, BLACK .

The MICROPHONE is in the unit, next to headphone socket .

It is a small rectangular opening in the `top` of the unit .

On the `other side` of the unit is a volume control, that is also an

ON-OFF switch, when not in use turn unit off here  to conserve power.

Just turn volume down until it `CLICKS` & unit turns off .

Reverse this to turn unit on - I know, I know obvious, but I have to put it in ! 

NOW THE IMPORTANT PARTS:

Turn volume up very slowly, it gets very loud, very quickly, take care !

So slowly turn volume up, till the volume is what you wish .

Do not use unit anywhere `near` the earphones on your head .

If the MICROPHONE starts to pick up the sound from the earphones

you will get horrendous FEEDBACK, you will not do this twice !

Keep unit AT LEAST a foot away from earphones

If held in your hand, the unit will pick up every `movement` of you fingers .

It is best to put it down on a flat surface, like a table or the arm of a chair .

Or in a shirt pocket .

It is most impressive in a conversation with other people near you .

It may be advertised `elsewhere` as being able to pick up sounds from

up to 30 feet away .

True, but useless, the amplified background noise almost always makes

this less useful, the more background noise, say a restuartant, the worse for long

distance listening!

It can be used to listen to a TV, but the closer the TV the better .

Its BEST range is only a few feet . UNLESS THE ROOM IS VERY QUIET

APART FROM THE TV .

If other people are talking in the room, it will pick up all the noise of this.

AS WELL, as the tv sound .

Unlike teh human ear it cannot discriminate between sounds .

IT AMPLIFIES ALL SOUNDS .

The quieter the background noise, the more it can amplify tv etc sound

from a greater distance  -

If you can live with its limitations, it is a very good piece of kit
