How to run your diesel vehicle on vegetable oil

These engines can be found in Toyota Hilux, Hi-ace, Surf, Lucida and Estima also Mitsubishi, L200, Shogun, Pajero, Delicia, Mazda, Bongo, B2500 and B-Series

Isuzu Trooper Bighorn, some Landrover, Defenders, Landrovers and Discovery's, some Ford Transit and Rangers

and any other diesel engine ftted with a vaccum type EGR (exhaust gas re-circulation valve)

If you own one of the above vehicles you will be well aware of the problem by now.  I previuosly owned a 1994 import hilux surf pictured above.

It was a great vehicle really really cool but one thing that did let it down was the plumes of black smoke that would come from the exhaust when I accelerated

My hilux was always nice and clean as it was an import and there was no rust on it anywhere along with nice chrome wheels etc....

So imagine how bad it looked everytime I put my foot down....Clouds of black smoke would come out, it just looked terrible!

I recently discovered the cure for this

Basically the fault is caused by the EGR valve. These engines have these valves on them to try and lower pollution levels by re-circulating exhaust gases back through

 the engine in an ttempt to purify them further by re-burning them

When the valve is open the exhaust gases pass back through it through the engine, the only problem being as diesel engine are dirty and sooty

this puts dirty sooty smoke back through only causing more polloution as it is contaminating the fresh inlet charge with exhaust gases

In doing this it is clogging up the inlet with sooty deposits causing reduced power and an economnical inlet charge

You may ask why some manufacturers are fitting this-

The idea was that this would lower pollution as it is re-using exhaust gases. 

As you probably already know emission control levels are much stricter in Japan than they are here. 

This is why it mainly affects Japanese imports as these cars were built to run in Japan under their emission laws. 

Unfortunetly years down the line these sytems are old and out-dated and are now working opposite to what they were designed for. 

What you are buying is a simple ball bearing with full instructions on how to fit this

The bearing its-self is a cheap item and doesnt cost a lot but the idea its-self as simple as it is, is priceless

There is suspected to be around a 98% success figure rate for people who opt for this modification

If you are planning booking your vehicle into a garage to get this problem fixed under the impression that cleaning the air filter

or adjusting the diesel pump or even cleaning the EGR valve will fix your problem then there is a 98% chance that it wont

If your vehicle is in well serviced condition and it is still smoking, cleaning the air filter will not make a differnce. 

Adjusting the diesel pump is a dangerous operation and although being carried out by trained mechanics could result in longterm damage to your engine.  Cleaning the EGR valve wont fix the problem all you are doing is cleaning a bit of soot out that you can see. 

After ten minutes of running it will be back to the same and it will not cure the problem

We are not blanking the EGR off or utilising a plastic cable tie or any other crude way of doing the job. 

This is the best neatest and most effective way to end black smoke forever.
