Thomas ALLOM. (1804-1872) was a founder member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He travelled extensively in Europe & Asia and produced a large array of fine topographical views.
His amazing eye for architecture is reflected in the great care and detail with which each view has been drawn. Many of the pictures include fascinating figures, children, fashions, boats, farm animals, cattle, horses, coaches, fox hunting, sheep, castles, stately homes, churches, cathedrals, busy street scenes, landscape scenery, etc. |
Jacques Bossuet (1627 - 1704), the French Bishop & author, wrote that Geography is one of the principal eyes of History. Such is the fascination of vintage, historical & antique maps & prints, that before emigrating, it became my hobby to offer collectable genuine antiquarian memorabilia items on eBay & I have decided to resume, hoping to make yet more new friends. My offers include such as old original fine art engravings & authentic lithographs, etchings, classical & ancient maps, Victorian collectables, and paper ephemera. My store, Julies Antique Prints, also contains some early illustrated view, picture, plate books and atlases. |
