Subject & Appearance: This is an English blue transfer print plate with an oriental inspired style scene.
It is decorated with a charming scene of cranes and flowers in a garden which has returned to the wild somewhat.
There is an outer blue boarder with a repeating diamond pattern with a stylised flower within each, and with four inset floral cartouches.
In the centre are two cranes walking within a garden gone back to nature with an oriental style fence behind one, and the remains of a stone wall or garden feature behind the other/
Above these cranes flowers are growing, and a third crane is flying in the background.
The central scene and the flower within the cartouches within the boarder have been coloured by hand in shades of green, yellow and red.
The colours are a wonderful touch which adds life and depth to the design.

DISPLAYS WONDERFULLY
Manufacture: English – Staffordshire by Deans (1910) Ltd., Newport Pottery, Burslem in the Staffordshire Potteries [Previously S.W.Dean 1906 to 1909].
This plate is marked with the Deans name, with their Greyhound over Crown mark. Deans operated from 1910 to 1919, so hence the circa 1915 (1910 to 1919).
However ceramic production in the UK tailed off drastically during World War I (1914 to 1918), as workers were lost to the forces and war work and fuel and supplies became difficult to source. I would therefore suggest this plate is most likely to have been produced from 1910 to 1915.
Condition: Excellent / Practically Perfect.
There is one tiny tiny fleabite chip on the rim. You have to look very closely to spot it.
There is a general light crazing, which is an expected sign of ageing in this type of wares. It has not discoloured and it does not detract from the beauty of the plate when displayed.
There are no other chips and no cracks, or major manufacturing flaws.
