On special offer here is a parcel of 100 grams part worked and unpolished pieces of Dagenham fordite.I dont usually offer the rough material for sale so take this opportunity to grab yourself a batch of the best fordite available.
WHAT IS FORDITE?.
Dagenham Fordite also known as Dagenham agate is a very rare and special material that was a bi product of the process of spraying multiple units in the spray booths at the Ford plant in Dagenham England many years ago.It was made from the overspray of auto paint that accumilated and built up on certain pieces of equipment in the spray booths over a long period of time.Each layer bieng baked many times over,producing the rough that these little gems are made from.They are very light in weight and hardwearing.
I discovered this material back in the 70's.and have been the one and only source of this British material ever since,giving me now 30 years worth of experience in crafting fordite here in the UK.I gave it the Dagenham tag to distinguish it from the American material that has started to appear on the market.
My cabs were featured in "BEAD" magazine issue 3.Fordite was featured in The Times magazine last Year."The rarest gemstone in the world".
It is said that the concept originated at the Ford plant in Detroit USA.I did not know this,discovering and working this material independantly myself.
The changes in working practices now ensures that overspray does not accumilate anymore,so no more fordite.
