Costus Stenophyllus Or “ Bamboo Ginger” - 1 Fresh Rhizome

For sale: Up for Auction is for one healthy (1) fresh rhizome of Costus Stenophyllus or better known as “Bamboo Ginger” and only will be dug out upon successful of bidding from the mother plant in the photo. As this is a mature plant division, it will be much easier to grow after planting care.

The Costus Stenophyllus is one of the best all around costus species due to their distinctive pattern on the stems similar to bamboo like appearance of the multiple stems. It is native to Costa Rica. It will grow to about 4’ - 6’ high and bloom with a large red inflorescence flower at the basal and produces pale yellow flowers. It can be planted in a pot as a house plant but it must be positioned at a sunny spot area. It's best to water everyday during dry seasons and to fertilize every month with either organic fertilizer or chemical fertilizer for healthy growth. The Costus plant required well drained soil and please NO water logging soil as this will lead to root rot of the plant.

Both the stems and basal blooms are widely used as a cut flower in the flower arrangement industry due to their lasting characteristic.

The rhizome will be trim to a height of 30 cm long for easy packing and shipping. All leaves trimmed and wrapped in coconut fibres.

It is very important to plant the tree right away in your pot or ground upon receiving.  All you have to do is to pot it in high compost medium and fertilize with organic fertilizer frequently
