Filmed using a high-quality digital camcorder, this is Volume 1 of a very personal log of our travels a few years ago to various mining sites in our local area of Cornwall. We visited numerous sites of historical interest and gave an extensive insight into the sites as they are today, some ruined and almost demolished, others currently undergoing renovation.
Although this is by no means an expert view and makes no claims to being a professional production, we have tried to capture the atmosphere and essence of these old sites and how they are reached, some in remote and beautiful locations, several with backdrops of the sea or the gorgeous Cornish countryside. Our visits on DVD 1 take in Dolcoath Mine, Williams' Shaft and Wheal Harriet, Wheal Frances and Wheal Basset, West Basset Stamps, Tincroft and Cook's Kitchen, Marshall's Shaft and Wheal Grenville, our first visit to King Edward Mine, with the Californian Stamps in operation, and Ding Dong Mine near Penzance, plus a documentary on Cornish Tin Mining.
