  Large Poldervaartite.

      50 x 40 mm     50 g      Wessels Mine, Northern Cape, South Africa.

A really aesthetic and unusual specimen of this rare mineral displaying the classic "scale ball" formation but in this case it has an unusual etched appearance in places. It looks almost like a coral. Fascinating !
This is one of my last specimens from the well known pocket of 2001 and is very large for both this species and this find. Most of the specimens in this find were thumbnails. There are no other specimens of this size currently for sale on ebay (except my other one !). A real rarity.
It is virtually free of its Ferro-Manganese matrix and comes from the legendary Wessels Mine.
