Conversion kit made by Milner to fit Ford Transit 2.5Di engine into Range Rover Classic in place of V8. Should be possible to use it to do the same job on Defender or Mk1 Disco V8. The kit is still attached to a Transit 2.5 engine. The parts included are backplate, engine mounts, mounting brackets to weld to the chassis, flywheel drilled and tapped for Range Rover clutch, modified sump, power steering bracket with old style Range Rover pump, plus a few other odds and ends (airbox, scruffy exhaust downpipe etc). As far as I can see the only major bit missing is the adapter for the spigot bush in the back of the crank - you will need to either get one from Conversion & Precision (who now sell the ex-Milner range of kits) or get one made up. The whole lot will have to be collected by the buyer from Thetford IP24 3RL, although I can probably arrange to stick it on a pallet if you want to arrange shipping. I have had the engine running on the floor for a short time. It sounded sweet but didn't want to rev beyond about 2000 rpm - possibly the injection pump is gummed up as it has been standing for several years. Also the recess for the spigot bush has been rather crudely ground out and I am not sure whether you will be able to get a spigot bush to sit squarely in it. So look at the engine as a source of spares and you won't be disappointed. Transit engines are not exactly hard to find. As I said above, collection only on this item, or arrange a pallet carrier at your own expense. This conversion kit is still available new - cost £260 plus VAT! |
