Continental School Swiss Alpine Watercolour Painting

Description: An excellent landscape watercolour on artist's paper dating circa 1900 - 1920s, framed - approx 21 X 17 inches (53.34 X 43.18cm). This is an excellent Continental School watercolour dating from the early 20th Century period. The landscape depicts a wonderful view of the imposing Alps from high up on the mountains. A small path is flanked by steep grassy banks where tall pine trees grow. In the distance the imposing mountains rise with snow capped summit, beautifully painted beneath a blue clouded sky.

Date: The watercolour probably dates to around 1900 - 1920s.

Framing: Later plain moulded Pine. Finish: Limed Grey. The watercolour is mounted on board and has a off-white mount.

Condition: The painting is in good original condition, having one or two minor marks to the sky area, otherwise retaining good rich colouring. The later frame has one or two minor marks consistent with age.
