The CF to IDE Adapter is an adapter for connecting a compact flash memory card to a 2.5" IDE host interface, aiming at education sectors, IT development, and the embedded technology enthusiast to enable the use of a compact flash card as an IDE hard drive.
Compact Flash disks offer the benefit of low power consumption, low operating temperature, no acoustic noise, shock resistance, and fast read access time.
This adapter is transparent to the operating system and does not require any drivers.
With this adaptor, the host Laptop will identify the inserted Compact Flash as a standard IDE hard disk (i.e. with cylinders, heads and sectors). As such, you can install any operating systems and the compact flash card will be bootable. Due to this, the Compact Flash is not hot swappable.
