Dr Hutchinson describes over 200 of our common wild flowers, accompanying each description with a series of drawings of the whole plant and of its parts.  A key is provided by which the reader is enabled to identify most of the wild flowers which he is likely to meat on his country ramples. Though it has been impossible to mention all the varieties and forms of all the species which may be encountered, colour variations have generally been noted, and room has been found for a few facts relating to the biology of the flower, particularly as regards pollination methods. Notes are also provided as to the uses to which many of the flowers are, or have been, put in folk medicine and other fields.

In adition to the black and white diagrams, a photogravure supliment of 12 pages is included, with illustrations of a number of our most beautiful wild flowers.
