 Trinket Dish to Commemorate The Landing on the Moon

This triangular dish, with attractive rounded and gilded edges, was produced to commemorate the triumphant landing on the moon made by Neil Armstrong,  Edwin (Buss) Aldrin and Michael Collins on 20th July 1969. Their names are in blue under 'Astronauts' on the front, along with an image of Apollo 11.

On the reverse are two images of the earth followed by 'Here men from the planet earth first set foot upon the moon, July 1969 AD. We came in peace for all  mankind'. This is then followed by the names of the astronauts again and the fact that  Richard Nixon was President of the USA at the time.

It could be describes as a trinket dish or a pin dish; even possibly an ashtray. There is no indication as to who actually produced it, but we believe it to be of the date and not issued on the fortieth anniversary.

There are no chips, cracks and the gilding is intact.
