New Original Design by Kevin Prochaska, Glass artist at Disneyland for more than 10 years.
Being an aviculturist nearly all of his life, birds of all kinds have a special meaning to the artist. Busy as the glass business keeps him, Kevin still finds time for his budgies and to maintain the large aviaries that sit just outside his studio and the monthly visits he makes to a local bird farm affords him the opportunity to observe a wide variety of parrots, soft bills, and water foul.
The Cockatoo is one of Kevin’s favorite companion birds and to pay tribute to this most beautiful feathered friend, the artist has created this expressive sculpture. Measuring approximately 6 inches in height, this blown glass figurine is made entirely by hand of borosilicate crystal and the dramatic colors are created from the application of pure gold to the molten glass. An attractive information card trimmed in gold foil is included with your purchase. This charming figurine makes a thoughtful and unique gift too. Safe Shipping Guarantee
Safe arrival and your complete satisfaction are always guaranteed. Extraordinary care is taken to insure the safe arrival of your blown glass figurine. We use a three-step process that has resulted in the safe shipment of thousands of Prochaska Galleries sculptures over the past 30 years.
Step 1: As it is being made, the glass blower takes special care to reinforce all stress points to help protect against shock damage. Additionally all natural stresses are removed from the glass by a high temperature tempering process called annealing.
Step 2: After the figurine is removed from our annealing oven it is thoroughly inspected by the artist who makes certain that all internal stresses have been removed from the glass and that its surfaces have been properly vitrified.
Step 3: Finally, it’s time for careful packaging in not one, but two cartons. Both are filled with shock absorption materials. The sculpture itself is firmly held in place inside the internal carton so as to prevent movement. Loose fill between the two cartons guards against shock and the external box protects against obvious damage.
