Clipsal E2031EKT Key Card Controlled Switch & Free Card

This listing is for a Clipsal card operated switch with one free keycard. It is new and boxed. Additional key cards can be purchased in another listing here. There will be no extra charge for shipping the cards if they are purchased at the same time as the switch(es).

The key card measures about 45 by 81 by 1.2 mm (a little smaller than most credit cards). When inserted into the switch and for about 25 - 30 seconds after it is pulled out, the circuit is on. When the circuit is off, an indicator light will help to locate the switch in the dark, perhaps. The switch will fit a standard single back box/pattress.

This type of switch is often used to ensure that appliances in a room are turned off when the room is not in use by attaching the key card and the door key to one key ring. Other possible uses include restricting child access to appliances and door entry systems.

The switch requires connection to a permanently live and a permanently neutral wire, as well as the switched circuit, so it can replace a standard single spur. The switch protrudes about 21 mm into the wall space so it requires a back box that is at least 25 mm deep.

The switch will take a load up to 16 Amps (enough for most rooms) and a voltage between 200 and 250 volts (including standard UK domestic voltage). A clip on cover hides the fixing screws. The cover, screws and instructions are included with the switch in the box and one key card will also be supplied with every switch purchased.
