Is your beloved old Pentax in need of some TLC?
The Pentax name is a legend in photography. In 35mm it sits alongside the top names such as Nik*n, and Can*n, and can boast that they produces the single most popular 35mm SLR in history. (The K1000 ran from 1976, to 1997. A 21 year run not equalled by any other single 35mm SLR model, and over 3 million sold.)
The mechanical shutter design used in the "S" (or H in US), Spotmatic and "K" series remained essentially unchanged for almost 40 years, and is a classic in camera design. Later models, such as the ME-Super used an electronic shutter supplied by Seiko, but Pentax still maintained their dedication to compatibility and quality.
I offer a number of repairs and servicing for these classic cameras, (Many of which are well behind their recommended service schedule!) which range from simply unjamming a locked-up camera to a complete overhaul and calibration service.
The price shown here covers a complete service of an ME-Super as an example of what you might expect to pay, and includes return postage to the UK. (A service does not cover a specific repair requiring parts, but will resolve all problems with most cameras. See below for provisos concerning difficult or un-economic repairs.)
Solutions to more common problems are sold directly in my ebay shop maintenance section but these only represent a sample of what can be done. Please check below for contact details, or mail me using the 'Ask the seller a question' link above if you have a specific problem.
Models included cover, S1a etc, Spotmatic series, K1000, KX, ME, ME Super, MX, and others.
Do not hesitate to enquire for other Pentax cameras, and problems with other makes too.
You may also find a selection of serviced and overhauled cameras sold in my ebay shop. These are mostly cameras purchased primarily in boot-sales, fairs and auctions, for small money as part donors, but many happen to be in rather good condition, far too good to scrap, and those I overhaul and offer for the benefit of the discening camera buyer. So if you are looking for a good solid relaible camera which has been given a complete overhaul and is sold with a guarantee.....
*Important Proviso*
Please always contact me before buying a service. Some cameras may not be repairable, or may need extra parts. These will need to be purchased separately, or in some cases be unavailable. (At least at a reasonable price.)
Occasionally it is not possible to tell if a camera is economically serviceable before beginning work. Should it be judged that this is the case you will be contacted before any further work is carried out.
This is usually due to a part which is broken and difficult find or expensive to replace. In particular shutter assemblies. These can generally be adjusted, even though the official repair manual says they cannot, however this is not always successful, and the only solution is a replacement. Few parts can be sourced new these days, so often the only source is from scrapped cameras, some may be difficult to obtain. (Some owners already have a scrap camera which can be utilized if required. This may make a repair possible where otherwise it is not.)
If you decide not to proceed the camera will be re-assembled (If possible!) and returned to you. The service fee will be refunded minus a small charge to cover postage.
