Classic 48ft Yatch, Motor Sailer

This  is a classic 48ft Yacht built in 1958 by Woodnutts & co shipyard on the isle of Wight, Built to a plan drawn by Fred Parker.

She is one of the first real motor-sailors built, a hybrid boat combining performance under sail with motor yacht comforts and power under engine.

She is built of mahogany on oak steam bent frames with teak decks and wheel house.

The hull and deck were refurbished in the spring 08.

The boat is presently berthed alongside at Marmaris in Turkey

We are selling the boat due to my wife’s recent reduced mobility making the boat impractical to us and preventing the further renovation that we had intended.

Work to complete:

Major renovation by the previous owner, involved major work to the hull, front deck and transom.

However the following items still need to be addressed;

The engine was not wintered properly and now will not turn over.

The electrical panel and some wiring needs tidying up.

Navigation lights need to be refitted.

Some parts of the deck need to be sealed.

Seasonal varnishing and deck oiling need to be done

A few of the interior doors /drawers need some minor attention (hinges etc).

The starboard saloon bench seat needs a bit more strengthening.

The aft cabin is fitted with a rudimentary double bunk and storage by the previous owner but I feel that this should be removed and restored to a more original layout

This is a beautiful boat that still needs some tidying up to restore her to her classsic glory.

Interior Layout

The Saloon & Wheelhouse

The wheelhouse and saloon is located amidships, and is accessed from the starboard side decks. There are two sitting areas (Pt and starboard) while the main table I s located on the port side.

Front of the saloon is the steering wheel, the electrical panels and the navigation area.

To the starboard side is a storage cabinet with fridge inside.

Master Cabin

The aft master cabin is accessed from the saloon through a small lobby. On the port side of which the toilet and shower is located.

The master cabin has a double bed.

The Galley

The galley is a few steps down forward of the saloon; on the starboard side is a large double sink with cupboards under and shelving above. On the port side is the stainless steel cooker/oven and a worktop, with storage under and shelving above.

The aft bulkhead also supports a small fold up working table.

Front cabin

A sliding door separates the galley from the fore cabin, which has two single bunks (port and starboard) with storage under,

A sink is located on the aft bulkhead.

There are also two large cupboards located in this cabin.

A large hatch provides light, ventilation and eventual instant access to the fore deck.

The Fore Peak

This large room contains the anchor well and is mainly used as a storage area,

Aside from the anchor chain, most sails are stored in here. The forepeak could also be transformed in a comfortable V berth cabin or a workshop.

The Engine Room

There is a huge engine room located under the saloon.

Two large hatches in the wheelhouse floor give a full 360 degrees access to the engine and adjacent systems.

In the engine room can be found: the two fuel tanks, the two water tanks (both port and starboard) , the battery banks, the pressurised water system etc...
