This is an intricately hand-stitched
signed original by textile artist and designer

H E L E N   D R E W E T T

I am a professional artist who has been working in textiles and mixed media for many years.
I dye my own threads and fabrics to obtain unique and subtle colours not obtainable with factory dyed materials.
I combine my fabrics with vintage and recycled fabrics, ribbons, lace and buttons in my textural embroideries.
Much of my work is commissioned and I sell widely both here and abroad
through shops, galleries and my own website.

This embroidery:
Every year I design a special Christmas sampler. I am only able to make a very limited
number of these, probably no more than five, and will never repeat the design again,
making my Christmas samplers of particular interest to those who collect my work.
This is the first I have made of the 2009 design .
I hope to be able to make a few more before Christmas but as you will see,
the design is extremely complex and intricate and takes a long time to stitch.
Key features of this year's Christmas Sampler include:
complete alphabet and numbers 1-0
snow-covered cottage with heart motif on the roof
embroidered windows and door
two Christmas trees, falling snowflakes
Ivy trail border with ivy berries in inky black/blue
decorative embroidered swag in pale blue and other stitched details
Very limited supply, signed, title on mount 'Christmas Sampler 2009'
If you are buying as a gift I can add a little card to the back
(optional - see photo) for you to add your own personal message.

Frame:
The embroidery is presented in a simple wood frame with a little limewax
rubbed into the grain giving the piece a vintage and home-spun feel.
Frame measures 9" square -  larger than most of the work I offer on eBay.
The piece will arrive glazed, corded, all ready to hang on your wall.
The mount carries artist's signature

If buying as a gift, I am happy to post direct to the recipient,
with your own message either written on the back of the picture
(as shown in photo) or on a separate picture post card
illustrated with a piece of my work.
There is no charge for a hand-written message and/or card but
quality stylish gift wrap is  £1.50 extra.
