This small boot shaped item has the mark of the famous wholsesale chemists, S Maw Son & Thompson on the base.  It measures 11.5cm (4.6") tall and is in pretty good condition (some light stain in the glaze through burial, small dots in picture are in manufacture glaze flaws, no chips, cracks or repairs).  It was dug from a dump site and would pre date 1900 (became S Maw Son & Sons after 1898).  I'm not really sure what this item is but I've been told it's a childs boot warmer / drier.  It is the hollow version which can be filled with hot water.  If anybody has any other ideas on use please let me know
