A Childs Small Wooden Garden Trug - vegetable collecting basket or punnet.
The trug measures approximately 9.375 inches long by 6.5 inches wide, and stands 8 inches tall from the feet to the top of the handle (when in the upright position). From the feet to the top of the actual basket measures 3.25 inches.
The trug is in a very good condition and has never been used outside in the garden. I have had it in the kitchen with dried flowers in it as a display until recently. As such, it is in a pristine condition on the inside and out - hopefully you can see this in the photos.
The trug has a few blemishes to the wood, I think these are all part of the manufacturing process and the fact that it is made from wood which has been steamed to get the initial shape. Personally I think they add to the character of the item and are nothing that you would not expect on a rustic item such as this.
I only mention these imperfections as I try and be as honest as I can in all of my write-ups.
For some reason these trugs have become trendy again recently - I assume due to the recent interest in traditional rustic skills. However, it may actually be down to the fact that they were, and still are, a very practical and pretty basket.
This trug is a very small example and would be perfect when your children are helping out up the allotment or garden picking peas and beans or fruit for the table.
It is a very versitile item and would look great, in a retro kitchen with dried flowers, or in fact as a fruit basket in the centre of a farmhouse table.
