Unlike most boat building a cedar strip canoe is very forgiving in its construction. A first time builder with modest tool skills can build an excellent craft. From start to finish over sixty pages of instructions and colour illustrations, diagrams and templates. This complete guide will show you every step from the materials required, making of the strong back, cutting your wood through to the seat supports. If you have no idea what is involved, this will give you all the insight you will need to build a wood strip canoe. This is a family canoe designed for general purpose family touring, it is stable and moderately fast, carries plenty of weight, is easy to portage and weighs around 50 lbs. Details are set up for an 18' canoe but adjustment to the length of the strong back will give you a size to suit your needs. To build the same looking canoe in the picture will depend on the type and shade of wood used. Picture shows cedar wood but any wood can be used. This is a superb file.
