TERMS & CONDITIONS

We want buying from us to be as simple & straight forward as possible - so we've kept our terms & conditions simple too:

1: If you have a problem with anything that you buy from us, contact us. We'll do our utmost to resolve all issues as quickly & as amicably as possible.

2: We attempt to describe condition accurately, please be aware however that the majority or our items are either old or second hand & thus they may have minor signs of wear & tear commensurate with age that you wouldn't see on a brand new item. We do however try to accurately describe condition so that you don't get any nasty surprises on receiving your item.

3: We attempt to despatch all items within 3 working days, weekend &  bank holidays excepted. At busy times however there may be a delay. If you require an item urgently please let us know, & we'll try to get it to you more quickly.

4: We accept payment by cheque, postal order or Paypal. We will only accept payment by Paypal from overseas buyers. Paypal invoices will be issued by theusedbookcompany@btinternet.com UK buyers who are collecting their items must pay by either cash on collection, or by cleared cheque prior to collection. Because of Paypal rules we are unable to accept payment by Paypal from buyers who wish to subsequently collect their item.

5: All items despatched within the UK are sent by recorded delivery. All overseas items are either sent by Royal Mail International Signed For Service or by another trackable courier. In the event that a buyer is unavailable to sign for receipt of an item, couriers will usually  leave a card detailing alternative delivery arrangements. In these circumstances couriers usually hold items for 14 days before returning items to us. If an item is returned to us as uncollected or undeliverable we will notify the buyer by email to arrange re-delivery. Buyers are responsible for the re-delivery costs incurred. We accept no liability for couriers not leaving a card notifying buyers of an attempted delivery. Postage charges for UK buyers ( excluding additional insurance cover ) are stated, Overseas buyers please contact us for postage charges.

6: Items are insured up to Royal Mail standard insurance of £34, items purchased in excess of that will be required to pay an additional insurance charge. In the event that an item is lost or damaged in transit buyers will be required to provide signed written proof of either non-delivery or breakage, detailing the item, & their name & address. We are unable to provide insurance against breakage for ceramics, mirror or glass in transit.

7: If you are returning an item, please notify us prior to the return. All returns should be sent by recorded delivery. Returned items remain the buyers responsibility until received by us, & must be in the same saleable condition as when despatched. Refunds will not be given on any item where the security identifying tags or labels have been removed. Return postage on returned items remains the buyers responsibility.
