The original from which this is taken is a very interesting book which reads from both ends. At the front is the register of Bethlem Hospital with case histories for many patients, including one who tried to burn down York Minster. At the other end is a list of Criminal Lunatics from around the country who were held in County institutions or occasionally who were released into the custody of individuals. The headings include
